§ Mr. Robert SheldonLord Allen of Fallowfield, CBE is Chairman of the Chemical Industries Economic Development Committee. The position carries a fee of £1,000 a year—which he does not take—and involves about four regular meetings a year and other work connected with the industry. A number of trade unionists serve on economic development committees or sector working parties, and may claim expenses. They are doing important work in a voluntary capacity, for which, I am sure, the House is grateful.
