Lord ORR-EWING

What has been the total aggregate monetary increase given to public service pensioners since 1971, and what is the total increase as a percentage since 1971.

The LORD PRIVY SEAL (Lord Peart)

The total cost of the pensions increase resulting from the annual Review Orders made under the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 is £476.5 million. This figure relates to those pensions directly covered by the 1971 Act together with Armed Forces' pensions. The cumulative percentage increase awarded under these orders is 100.8 per cent.
