HL Deb 22 November 1976 vol 377 cc1751-2WA
Lord INGLEWOOD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many members of the Metropolitan Police Special Constabulary were on duty during the afternoon and early evening of 17th November as a back-up to such regular police as remained in different parts of the area from which large numbers must have been withdrawn for duty in connection with the demonstration and procession to Westminster.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis tells me that no Special Constables were on duty during the demonstration, which took place mainly in working hours.
