HC Deb 04 March 1976 vol 906 cc717-8W
41. Mr. Spriggs

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received about the tax on savings during the last financial year; if he can estimate the effect which taxation has had on the number of people who joined Save as you Earn groups at their place of employment in 1970 to 1976, respectively, or up to the latest date for which he has this information; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dell

A number of representations on taxation and savings are made to my right hon. Friend each year. The terms of Save As You Earn, including the tax reliefs, have been relatively attractive to savers in groups or places of employment and elsewhere.
