HC Deb 14 June 1976 vol 913 c52W
Miss Maynard

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the number of speech therapists now qualifying each year in England and Wales; and what are the number of unfilled posts with area health authorities for speech therapists.

Mr. Deakins

The numbers qualifying in England and Wales from 1971–75 were as follows:

1971 131
1972 155
1973 162
1974 186
1975 184

I regret that the figures given in my hon. Friend's reply to the hon. Member for Wallasey (Mrs. Chalker) on 25th February—[Vol. 906, c. 276–77]—referred to Great Britain and not England and Wales.

Figures on establishments are not available centrally.
