HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 cc113-4W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services in view of the evidence sent to his Department showing abuse of social security payments, what action he proposes to take to deal with these matters.

Mr. Orme

I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply to the hon. Member for Rushcliffe (Mr. Clarke) on 15th July—[Vol. 915, c.294–6]—which sets out measures already taken, and others proposed, to deal with social security benefit fruad. I am replying to my hon. Friend's letter with which he enclosed Press reports of the Deevy case.
