§ Mr. Alfred MorrisAnnual totals awarded by my Department since 1972 are:
£ 1972–73 13,000 1973–74 20,000 1974–75 69,000 1975–76 74,000 Prior to 1972 the Department did not incur any significant expenditure on research into deafness.
As my hon. Friend is aware from the reply he received from my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science on 20th July—[Vol. 915, c.447]—my Department is now helping to fund the new Institute of Hearing Research.
