HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 c51W
Mr. Dudley Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his attention has been called to the new policies which have been introduced by the USA Department of Transportation, a copy of which has been submitted to him, to prevent regulations for imposing unnecessary cost on industry, consumers and Government; and whether he will consider adopting a similar policy with regard to the issue of regulations by his Department.

Dr. Gilbert

In framing proposals for new Regulations the Department considers the likely effect on industry and consumers as well as on the community at large. The consultations that are held with interested parties are designed to bring out relevant information.
