§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is aware that in the case of fire tenders, ambulances and police vehicles minutes 52W of delay may lose lives; and whether he will initiate a campaign to encourage road users at all times to give way to ambulances, fire engines and police vehicles to assist their speedy passage at all times.
§ Dr. GilbertI agree with my hon. Friend's views on the importance of the public assisting the speedy passage of emergency vehicles, and believe that it is generally well understood by road users. I have not received any representations from the emergency services that they are finding it difficult to get through the traffic.
