HC Deb 22 January 1976 vol 903 cc536-7W
Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many double journeys are made by official cars each year for the purpose of conveying Ministers between home and office; and what is the purchase price of the average official car, all figures being expressed as rough approximations without excessive research.

Mr. Armstrong

It is estimated that the number of double journeys made by official cars each year for the purpose of conveying Ministers between office and home—or London address or station, or airport—is probably between 15,000 and 17,000. The cost of the present ministerial cars at the time of purchase averaged £2,365.
