HC Deb 22 January 1976 vol 903 c536W
Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment for what reasons his Department is refusing to allow a draft road closing order to be made in respect of Attneave Street, E.C.1; and if he will take into account the fact that failure to make such an order will delay and render more expensive housing development in the area.

Mr. Marks

The Department has only recently received the London borough of Islington's proposals for controlling the considerable volume of traffic that would be displaced to other routes by the pedestrianisation of part of Attneave Street. A draft order will be advertised shortly and early consideration will be given to the proposals with due regard to any objections which may be received.
