§ 62. Sir D. Walker-Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, having regard to the difficulty of some authorities in securing school crossing patrol officers, he will review the criteria for the installation of pelican crossings and the circumstances justifying the relaxation thereof.
§ Mr. MarksI am always prepared to look at particular cases; but in general a pelican crossing is not a satisfactory substitute for a school crossing patrol, and I should need to be convinced that the circumstances are exceptional.
