HC Deb 02 February 1976 vol 904 c508W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make available funds, taking into account Section 15 of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Scotland) Act, for research into freshwater underwater biology.

Mr. William Ross

Work is currently being carried out on various aspects of freshwater biology by my Department's laboratory at Faskally, several Scottish universities, the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology and Regional Purification Boards. £175,000 was spent by my Department on this subject in 1974–75. £244,000 has been provided for the current financial year.
