§ Mr. Graham Page
asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he intends to revoke the Motor Vehicles (Type Approval and Approval Mark) (Fees) Regulations 1976 and to make a revised order containing proper references to the relevant regulations of the Economic Commission for Europe, to the omission of which the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments called attention in their 32nd Report of last Session (HC 54-xlvii).

There are many references to EEC Regulations in other statutory instruments of this kind, and my right hon. Friend is not aware that these have given rise to any difficulty in practice. In this case the nature and content of the relevant regulations will be familiar to the technical experts who have to deal with matters of type approval. He will, however, consider how best to meet the Joint Committee's criticisms in preparing future statutory instruments.
