§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will introduce a register of builders, in conjunction with such bodies as the Federation of Master Builders and the National Federation of Building Trades Employers, in order to ensure that all those persons and companies calling themselves builders and contractors meet basic requirements of skill, viability and integrity.
§ Mr. FreesonI should require the advice of the Construction Industry Manpower Board, which will be set up shortly, on any proposal for the establishment of a register of builders. The National House Building Council provides some protection for purchasers against failure by builders to comply with its house building standards.
