HC Deb 11 November 1975 vol 899 cc601-2W
Mr. Fairgrieve

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what extra financial help has been given to the Grampian Region and its ratepayers to offset the extra burdens they are having to bear in support of the infrastructure expenditure required to meet the requirements of the incoming and expanding oil industry.

Mr. William Ross

£2.5 million was included in the Rate Support Grant (Scotland)

raised prices in the last 12 months by the following average percentages:

Order 1975 as special assistance for local authorities faced with additional expenditure in 1975–76 arising directly from offshore oil developments. The amounts within this total sum which are payable to authorities in the Grampian area are:

£
Grampian Region 744,693
City of Aberdeen District 211,810
Gordon District 161,092
Banff and Buchan District 149,631
Kincardine and Deeside District 51,941
Moray District 37,046
1,356,213

I propose to continue the scheme of special assistance for oil-related expenditure in 1976–77, and local authorities' estimates of expenditure in that year are now under consideration.
