§ Mr. Gwilym Robertsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give details of the proposals for the implementation of induction year arrangements for new teachers and of the arrangements for in-service courses for existing teachers in schools; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MulleyThe Advisory Committee on the Supply and Training of Teachers has advised me that local education authorities should introduce induction schemes in 1976, provided that resources could be made available to reduce the teaching loads of probationer teachers; and that at least a start be made in 1976, the full scheme being introduced progressively over not more than three years. This recommendation, and the development of in-service education and496W training, is under consideration in the light of the financial situation and its implications for teacher employment.
