§ Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is withdrawing support from the immigration counselling centre run by Mr. Reuben Davis and the joint council for the welfare of immigrants, thus leaving only the services of the Government-sponsored United Kingdom immigration advice centre.
§ Mr. Alexander W. LyonMr. Davis has been informed that no special facilities have been or will be accorded to his agency, which is a business concern, and that communications addressed by it to the Home Office will be dealt with as if they were made personally by the individuals concerned. This decision is quite distinct from my suggestion to the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants that it might now reconsider the decision it made in 1969 not to join all the other voluntary organisations assisting immigrants in the United Kingdom Immigrants Advisory Service, which is not a Government-sponsored body. That issue is a matter for the Joint Council and the Voluntary organisations themselves. There is no intention to deprive any of them of the facilities afforded by the Home Office.
