asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list all organisations directly or indirectly responsible to, or financed by, his Department now concerned with industrial development, industrial promotion and derelict land clearance, and the amount of Government finance allocated to each organisation for its work for each year from 1964 to 1974.

Mr. William Ross:

As regards industrial promotion I would refer the hon. Member to the replies which I gave my hon. Friend the Member for South Ayrshire (Mr. Sillars) on 16th May—[Vol. 873, c. 514.]—last year and my hon. Friend the Member for Glasgow, Maryhill (Mr. Craigen) on 25th June.—[Vol. 875, c.444.]

The Highlands and Islands Development Board and the new town development corporations engage in industrial development as well as promotion and their activities in these fields are covered comprehensively in its annual reports.
