HC Deb 11 March 1975 vol 888 c126W
Mr. Fairgrieve

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the areas in Scotland designated in Directive Command (74) 2222 on hill and mountain farming correspond with the hill and upland areas at present assisted by his Department; what sum Scotland can expect to receive under the above directive; and what proportion it is likely to be of United Kingdom entitlement.

Mr. William Ross:

I confirm that the designated areas correspond with the areas currently assisted by hill and upland subsidies. The financial return to the United Kingdom will depend upon the rate of contribution from Community funds and this has not yet been finally determined. It is estimated that about 44 per cent. of the sum to be recovered by the United Kingdom will be in respect of payments made to Scottish farmers.
