§ Mr. Harold WalkerThe most recent New Earnings Survey showed that in April 1974 the average gross weekly earnings of full-time male employees aged 21 and over who are within scope of wages councils and whose pay for the survey pay-period was not affected by absence were about £40.10. The corresponding estimate for all industries and services of employees was £47.70. General averages of wage rates for broad groups of employees cannot be compiled from the information available to my Department.
