HC Deb 07 March 1975 vol 887 cc515-6W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is his best available forecast of jobs that would be lost if the importation of French eggs were to continue at its present level.

Mr. Bishop

I have been asked to reply.

The production, packing and sale of eggs provide an important source of employment. The numbers engaged at all stages of the production and distribution chain will vary over time in response to a number of factors. I do not think it possible to relate past changes or possible future changes directly to any single factor such as the level of imports.
