HL Deb 27 February 1975 vol 357 c1080WA
Lord ROCHESTER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will give an estimate of the age distribution in, say ten-year groups, of unemployed people at the normal February count so as to identify the proportion aged between 55 and 65, 45 and 55 and so on.

Lord JACQUES

Analyses of the unemployed by age are normally made in January and July each year. Owing to industrial action at local offices of the Employment Service Agency, figures for January 1975 are not available and the most recent statistics are for July 1974. Following is the available information.

Under 25 30.4
25 and under 35 17.9
35 and under 45 13.1

House adjourned at two minutes past eight o'clock.
