Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what sums have been paid out from the Civil Legal Aid Fund in the last year for which figures are available, in respect of solicitors' charges, counsels' fees and on actions for dissolution of marriage.

Mr. William Ross

The amounts paid out of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Fund in respect of civil court cases for the year ending 31st March 1975 were £1,264,742 for solicitors' charges, £197,723 for counsel's fees and £472,249 in respect of outlays—a total of £1,934,714. Of this total, £1,392,658 was in respect of actions for dissolution of marriage.
