§ Mr. Canavanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will advise Scottish local authorities that, in future, when applications for a staffing vacancy are restricted to serving local government employees within a particular area, internal advertising is sufficient, and that advertising in the local or national Press is unnecessary;
(2) if he will ascertain and publish the expense incurred in Press notices to advertise local authority staffing positions arising 140W as a result of Scottish local government reform.
§ Mr. William RossI have no information about the costs incurred by local authorities for this purpose. It is for each authority to decide for itself the form and amount of publicity required.
