Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish a statement showing item by item the action taken by the present Government, and the value of that action, in assisting Scottish agriculture from March to the present date.

The measures we have introduced since taking office in March represent an additional injection of between £45 million and £47 million into Scottish farming in the current financial year. The details are:

(4) Hill Cow Subsidy—advance of payment date 9.0

(6) Hill and Upland Sheep Subsidies—increase in rates 2.4(a)
(7) Pig subsidy supplement 1.1
(8) Lime Subsidy—reinstatement 0.3(b)
(9) Fuel Oil Subsidy 0.7
(10) Feed Grains—subsidy on imports 2.4
(a) £3.5 million in a full year.
(b) £1.5 million in a full year.
