§ Mr. Leeasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will introduce legislation to give to tenants whose property is acquired by housing associations the same security of tenure and stability of rental that applies to protected tenancies.
§ Mr. FreesonWhen the time comes to implement the Government's commitment to increasing security of tenure for council tenants we will consider taking similar action in respect of housing associations. Meanwhile, these associations will be subject to various controls under the Housing Act 1974. Tenants of unregistered housing associations will have full security of tenure. Housing associations rents are already subject to rent regulation.
