HC Deb 14 November 1974 vol 881 c210W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will consider assessing the number of people suffering from migraine, in view of the effects it has on employment.

Dr. Owen

Assessments of the number of people suffering from migraine vary widely because there is no generally agreed clinical definition of this condition. I recognise that not enough is yet known about the incidence of migraine and my Department is always prepared to consider proposals for further research.

Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what facilities are available for the treatment of migraine in hospitals.

Dr. Owen

Migraine is investigated and treated by neurologists and physicians in general hospitals on the basis of the particular clinical indications in each case.
