HC Deb 06 November 1974 vol 880 c169W
Mr. Clemitson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the current dispute in the Tyne docks, particularly in relation to the difficulties which the conciliation and arbitration service has experienced in its attempts to mediate between the opposing parties.

Mr. Booth

I understand that there was a return to work on Monday and that the issue in dispute is being dealt with through the agreed joint procedures for the industry. In the circumstances there has been no request for assistance but the regional officials of the CAS are keeping in close contact with the parties.
