§ Mr. Cordleasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take action to encourage the investment of private funds in the provision of housing for rent in view of the need for money for new housing or modernisation of existing housing.
§ Mr. FreesonThe guarantee powers for the Housing Corporation which I am seeking in Clause 10 of the Housing Bill should help to encourage such investment for schemes promoted by the corporation or by housing associations. I will consider further ways by which, in addition to public investment, private funds may be chanelled into the provision of housing for a variety of tenures through the agency of public authorities.
