HC Deb 03 May 1974 vol 872 cc288-9W
Mr. Gorst

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if she will set up an inquiry into the reasons for the refusal of the North London Blood Transfusion Centre in Edgware to supply blood from coloured donors;

(2) how many cases of infective hepatitis have originated from blood donated by donors coming from tropical areas: if there is evidence to show that coloured blood donors constitute a greater hazard than other donors; what guidance has been given in the matter by her Department to blood transfusion centres; and what percentage of the nation's overall supply of blood for transfusion purposes is derived from coloured donors.

Dr. Owen

I am making inquiries and will write to the hon. Member.
