HC Deb 02 May 1974 vol 872 c520W
53. Sir John Hall

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the estimate of the likely increase, or decrease, in the number of dairy cattle in the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland, over the 12 months to 31st March 1975; and what effect this will have on milk supplies.

Mr. Buchan

The trends in dairy cow numbers and milk supplies are particularly difficult to forecast at the present time, but a small decline in cow numbers in the year to June 1974 and in milk supplies for 1974–75 as compared with 1973–74 seems likely.
