asked the Secretary of State for Employment what proportion of the European Communities Social Fund was paid in respect of Scotland, England and Wales in the year 1973.

Of the £23.9 million allocated to the United Kingdom, £5.4 million was in respect of Scotland and £4 million in respect of Northern Ireland. Separate figures for England and for Wales are not immediately available but I will send them to the hon. Member as soon as they can be extracted.
