asked the Secreretary of State for Employment (1) what is the average wage in England for males and females, respectively;

(2) what is the average wage in Scotland for males and females, respectively.

The following estimates of average gross weekly earnings of full-time men and women in England and Scotland whose pay for the survey reference period in April 1973 was not affected by absence were obtaind from the New Earnings Survey.

The estimates are subject to sampling error. They include overtime pay, bonuses etc. Full-time means expected to work for more than 30 hours in a normal week.
