HC Deb 27 March 1974 vol 871 c131W
Mr. Mills

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, in view of the opposition to the proposal to build a reservoir at Bickleigh, Devonshire, about which over 26,000 people signed a protest petition, whether he will hold a public inquiry as quickly as possible.

Mr. Denis Howell

The South West Water Authority, which assumes responsibility on 1st April, is reviewing urgently possible ways of meeting the water supply needs of Cornwall and Plymouth. Until the authority's conclusions are known, I am holding my hand on a public inquiry into the present proposals.
