Mr. James Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will seek information from the Canadian Government of their experience on the use in fishing vessels of a device equivalent to the black box used in aeroplanes, with a view to making it obligatory for all trawlers in the deep sea fishing fleet to use such a safety precaution.

I am not aware of the use of such a device in fishing vessels but am making the necessary inquiries and will write to my hon. Friend.
