§ Mr. Tierneyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will review the status of student nurses and take steps designed to bring them into line with the higher standards prevailing among other student bodies.
§ Dr. OwenAs my right hon. Friend announced on 6th May—[Vol. 873, c.55–7]—the Government have accepted the main recommendations of the Briggs Committee on Nursing. When implemented, these recommendations will secure a major improvement in the position of student nurses.
