asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has to stimulate local authority house building in the West Midlands.

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave earlier today to the question by my hon. Friend the Member for Birmingham, Northfield (Mr. Carter). The initiatives we have taken to stop the decline in local authority house building which we inherited will benefit the West Midlands, as elsewhere.
