HC Deb 12 June 1974 vol 874 c548W
34. Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many local authorities in England and Wales have installed computers; and if he will use his good offices to ensure that such computers can be shared by other local authorities to ensure their full utilization.

Mr. John Silkin

I understand that some 200 local authorities have their own computers. I certainly hope that authorities will share the use of computers where this makes for efficiency and economy, but think it best that they should make their own arrangements.
