HC Deb 12 June 1974 vol 874 c593W
Mr. Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales, in view of the fact that cement prices are likely to be increased in North Wales by 40 per cent. and that, in consequence of the rejection of the Cement Manufacturers' Federation's application for permission to operate their common price agreement under the Price Code, North Wales concrete producers will be placed at a disadvantage in competing with producers elsewhere in the United Kingdom, if he will commission a special study of the problems of the industry in North Wales.

Mr. John Morris

No. The Price Commission has allowed increases in the price of cement in respect of individual cement manufacturers. Although there is some variation between the levels of the price increases allowed to individual companies, there is not the wide regional variation which the federation thought would result from the operation of the Price Code on an individual company basis.
