Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will introduce legislation to provide for a minimum wage of £30 per week for a standard 40-hour week, which will be equally applicable for both men and women when the provisions of equal pay for women are fully enforced.

It is not part of the Government's policy to establish a statutory minimum wage.
