§ Mr. Michael McNair-Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what instructions he has issued to local authorities about purchasing houses in private housing developments; whether he has asked them to inform companies selling these houses to make it clear to future purchasers that part of the estate is to include council housing; and what compensation he intends to provide for those who can show that the altered character of the estate may have affected the value of their property.
§ Mr. FreesonThe guidance given to local authorities is contained in Circular 70/74 issued on 19th April last, a copy of which is in the Library. There are no grounds for State compensation in the circumstances described.
