§ Mr. Newtonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what studies he is currently making of the need for new roads or other improvements to transport links between the Midlands and the Haven ports; and when he expects to announce any conclusions.
§ Mr. MulleyComprehensive improvements to the roads from these East Coast ports are now being made. An examination into the need for and possible routes for a link road between the M1 and the A1 has now been completed. A public participation exercise on the alternative routes will be held this autumn. I hope to announce my decision next year.
