HC Deb 30 July 1974 vol 878 c130W
Mr. Stainton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what arrangements are to succeed the negotiated price quota sugar purchased by the Sugar Board from Commonwealth sugar suppliers in 1972–74; and how prices are likely to compare with the negotiated price quota levels plus compensation adjustments in respect of 1974.

Mr. Bishop

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Newton (Mr. Evans) on 16th July.

The price to be paid for the sugar supplied under these new arrangements will be a matter for negotiation within and with the Community. I cannot therefore forecast how it will compare with those currently paid under the Commonwealth Sugar Agreement.
