HC Deb 25 July 1974 vol 877 cc565-6W
Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much land in England and Wales is at present vested in his Department; and how much it is, at present, planned to offer for sale.

Mr. Freeson

On the estate managed by the Property Services Agency, approximately 5,815 hectares-14,563 acres—of which about 308 hectars-705 acres—are in course of disposal. No figure is available in respect of the numerous small areas of land vested in the Secretaries of State in connection with their highways functions. Some 344 hectares—850 acres—are known to be surplus to highway requirements and some 125 hectares—310 acres—of that total are in process of sale.

Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list all tracts of land of 100 acres or more in area in Essex which are vested in his Department.

Mr. Freeson

There are no tracts of land of 100 acres or more vested in my Department in Essex.

Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much land in Essex is at present vested in his Department; and how much it is at present planned to offer for sale.
