HC Deb 25 July 1974 vol 877 cc564-5W
Mr. Stainton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many dangerous premises in the area of Babergh District Council have been identified in the course of investigations following the collapse of high-alumina concrete beams at Sir John Cass School, Stepney; what number of other suspect buildings have been listed in the county of Suffolk; and if he is satisfied that, consistent with avoiding unnecessary alarm, adequate temporary safety measures are in hand pending engineering appraisal.

Mr. Freeson

Local authorities have been asked to investigate their own buildings, and to advise private owners in their areas to do the same. The information requested should, therefore, be sought from the local authorities concerned. It is the responsibility of building owners to see that any necessary temporary safety measures are taken.
