asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what was the level of invalidity allowances as a percentage of average industrial earnings in each year from 1966 to 1973;

(2) what was the level of invalidity pensions as a percentage of average industrial earnings in each year from 1966 to 1973.

The following table shows standard rate invalidity pension plus invalidity allowance plus family allowances as a percentage of net average earnings plus family allowances for a man with a dependent wife and two[...]nden t children:

NOTE.—The average earnings used are those of male, adult, full-time manual workers in manufacturing and certain other industries as determined by the Department of Employment's regular October inquiry. The benefit rates used are those applicable at the same times.
