HC Deb 22 July 1974 vol 877 c314W
41. Mr. Madel

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether, in view of his statement of 18th July on Maplin airport, he will have early discussions with the airline companies on the subject of diverting both regular and holiday services from the airports at Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton to the airports in the regions; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Shore

In the course of the review of the Maplin airport project the airline operators were asked for their views about the air traffic forecasts and the implications of different patterns of air services. As I explained in my statement on 18th July, I have asked for the scope for diverting traffic to the regions to be considered in greater depth.
