HC Deb 18 July 1974 vol 877 cc227-8W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether she will confirm that the proposal to build a health centre at Windermere is included in the 1974–75 list of approved projects; and if she will give an estimate of the starting date.

Dr. Owen

The health centre at Windermere was provisionally selected for a start in 1974–75 but the Northern Regional Health Authority has reported

ing revenue and capital funding to voluntary bodies to encourage an expansion of hostels. Most hostels in this scheme have a special interest in offender alcoholics, and their links with the probation service are being maintained. Grants have also been made to voluntary bodies providing information centres and other community services for alcoholics. An experimental detoxification centre is being established at Withington Hospital, Manchester, and further centres are under discussion.
