HC Deb 18 July 1974 vol 877 c227W
Mr. Ovenden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action she proposes to take to implement the recommendations of the 1971 report on habitual drunken offenders.

Dr. Owen

Following the working party report it was decided that services for habitual drunken offenders should normally be provided as part of a comprehensive service for alcoholics. Considerable progress has been made in expanding treatment and community facilities for alcoholics whether they are offenders or not. Specialised hospital treatment units have been increased and a scheme was introduced from April 1973 provid
